The Boss Moves Business Plan

Six months ago, when the carpet of my career was yanked out from under me, I didn’t know what I wanted to do next.

But I knew how I wanted to feel.

Helpful.

That drive isn’t new. From the beginning, I’ve had the wildly earnest and indefatigable belief that I was put here to give my all and make a difference.

That’s what led me to a career raising millions of dollars for nonprofits and, later, to leading a social impact firm as CEO, supporting a staff of 40 and a roster of clients across the country.

Fast forward to this past fall: There I was, journal in hand, puppies at my feet, suddenly unemployed, with time to reflect, write, dream, and be.

And so without a grand plan in place, I simply decided: I would be helpful.

Turning “Helping” Into a Business Plan

I let helping be my guide, bringing together the instincts, skills, and leadership experience I’ve honed over the past 20+ years.

Here’s what I knew:

• The world needs leaders with the confidence and conviction to move us to a brighter day.
• Nonprofit organizations and social enterprises are on the front lines of sparking compassion and change.
• But thriving organizations need thriving leaders! And I know too many leaders on the edge of burn-out, and that puts their mission and impact at risk.

So, how could I help?

• I’ve been in the shoes of the overloaded leader: I could offer empathy to leaders who need a trusted colleague and confidante at their side.
• I’ve led organizations to new heights: I could bring big-picture strategies to leaders who need them.
• I believe leadership is most powerful when it’s embodied and authentic: I could blend strategy with self-care for sustainable success.

And so, Boss Moves Co. was born.
